Iconic Czech motorcycle brand Jawa has launched its first dealership in Uttar Pradesh hinterland at Lucknow.
With this, Jawa now commands 28 dealerships across India, which the company plans to ramp up to 100 within the next few weeks. Jawa motorcycle brand was re-launched last year by Classic Legends Private Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra.
Apart from Lucknow, the company is looking to launch six more outlets at Meerut, Agra, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Allahabad and Varanasi, Classic Legends cofounder Anupam Thareja said at the inauguration of the Lucknow outlet here yesterday.
On November 15, the company had re-launched 293 cc Jawa and Jawa forty two variants in the domestic market aiming to capture the niche segment of youth and bike enthusiasts.
Jawa would compete with the likes of Royal Enfield Bullet, Bullet Electra and Classic 350 for a share in the domestic market. Currently, the company is having a long waiting period and the delivery of bikes is expected to start from March, Thareja informed.
The Mahindra Group owns 60% stake in Classic Legends, while Rustomjee Group and Phi Capital, which is founded and managed by Thareja, also hold stakes in the joint venture. In 2016, Mahindra had tied up with the Czechoslovakia-based motorcycle company for launching Jawa brand in India and the East Asian markets.
