Prime Minister Narendra Modi has posed a challenge to industry captains for identifying ‘ease of doing business’ challenges for resolution with the use of cutting edge technologies.

The objective is to tap the potential of young Indians, startups and private enterprises to provide solutions to complex problems.

Interacting with a select group of Indian and foreign CEOs at his residence, Modi underlined that efforts were being made to ensure that India consistently improved its business environment.

The PM reiterated the pledge to making India one of the easiest places to conduct business in the world.

World Bank Group vice president (South Asia) Hartwig Schafer lauded the ‘enormity’ of India’s achievement and noted it gets tougher to improve ranks as a country moves higher up in the ranking. He exuded confidence that India would continue to keep the momentum it had gained over the last four years.

As per the World Bank’s Doing Business Report released in October 2018, India recorded a jump of 23 positions against its rank of 100 in 2017 to be placed at 77th rank among 190 countries. India improved its rank by 53 positions in the last two years and 65 positions in the last four years since 2014.
