HDFC Bank in partnership with Lucknow Traffic Police today launched a road safety initiative ‘Traffic Paathshala’ to make roads safer by creating awareness on road safety.

It was inaugurated by Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani and HDFC Bank, Branch Banking Head (Uttar Pradesh) Kumar Sanjeev.

About a million people are expected to benefit from this drive. Volunteers would be stationed at the city’s busy traffic junctions including markets, residential localities, schools, and colleges holding placards to encourage people to follow road safety rules.

They would reward motorists observing traffic discipline with a token of appreciation, while violators would be educated for traffic rules, such as wearing helmets/seat belts while driving; adhering to signals and lane discipline; not using mobile phone while driving; and avoiding Drink and Drive

“We are excited to partner with Lucknow Traffic Police. At HDFC Bank, we believe in giving back to the communities we operate in,” Sanjeev said adding it was the need of hour in Lucknow, which was witnessing an increasing number of accidents and casualties.

Naithani observed people needed to be sensitised for road safety and observing traffic rules for their own convenience and well being.
